Essential Tesla Model 3 Service Guide: Maintenance Intervals and Procedures

Acquiring an electric car doesn't mean that it wouldn't be serviced, but it reduces the amount of money you will need during services. Compared with the petroleum or diesel one, where you will have to service almost everything after some miles, the EV vehicles, some of which may take more than a year to be serviced. Here is a procedure for servicing a Tesla Model 3 and the intervals between servicing.

Tesla Model 3

1. Break fluid checks

The condition of the break fluid may be checked every 4 years. When the break fluid indicates the need for replacement, you are supposed to conduct a break fluid flush. The procedure of breaking fluid flush includes raising the vehicle and removing all four wheels. Lowering the vehicle to a working height, Remove the rear underhood Apron, Clean the area around the break fluid reservoir breather cap and remove the cap. Add clean break fluid to the max level.

Attach the pressure cap to the reservoir and set the pressure to 30 PSI. Bleed the front LH brake caliper first by removing the caliper outer valve cap and attach the catch bottle to the valve. You can continue to RH break. This procedure is the same as for gasoline vehicles; you will only need to watch the fluid come out until there are no air bubbles coming out. After this, remove the pressure cap and tighten the valve cap, and make sure the reservoir is filled to max as you continue to other wheels with these steps.

2. Tire Rotation

After every 6,250 miles (10,000 km), the tires may need to be rotated. This maximizes the vehicle ride quality and handling when the four tires are on the same age, tread depth, and model. The process of rotating regularly ensures they can wear at the same rate, increasing their service life. The rotation may be done every 6,250 miles (10,000 km) or the tread depth of difference of 2/32 in 1.5 mm or greater.

Directional

The process involves removing all 4 wheels, checking if the tires are offset or directional, proceeding by reinstalling the wheels again according to the tire types, placing the vehicle in service mode using the touchscreen, unlocking the vehicle gateway, and on the touchscreen, tapping service mode ( at the bottom of the touchscreen), and proceeding to the chassis to align and tire to reset the learned tire value, and clicking run. Continue by tapping controls to service the wheel and tire, choosing the tire season, and clicking reset.

And after resetting, check if the tire service mileage in the upper right corner is displayed as "Less than 500 kilometers ago," exit service mode, close the LH front door, and inform the customers that a short calibration drive cycle may be required.

There are other services. Procedure that may require Cabin Air Filter Replacement, Wheel Alignment Check, Clean and Lubricate Brake Calipers, and A/C Desiccant Bag Replacement. We have sourced this information from the official Tesla website, which you can visit here to learn more.
