Polestar Reveals Rally-Bred Cars For Arctic Circle EVs

The Swedish electric performance brand has added to its Arctic Circle portfolio with the debut of the Polestar 3 Arctic Circle and Polestar 4 Arctic Circle editions. These extreme winter-ready EVs are based on technology established by the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle concept unveiled in 2022. Showcasing the brand’s dedication to extending electric mobility in the world’s most extreme environments with rally-inspired modifications and state-of-the-art performance upgrades, these new models take no prisoners.

Polestar 3

An Arctic Circle Heritage for Polestar

For years, Polestar has been obsessed with rally-style driving, especially the Scandinavian Flick. In 2022, the company converted a Polestar 2 into an EV that could tackle the Arctic Circle, installing studded tires and rally lights, as well as raising the suspension and modifying its body for better clearance on icy roads. That philosophy now extends to the advent of the Arctic Circle lineup for Polestar, as it has applied said philosophy to the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 for another go-round, highlighting Polestar’s experience with high-performance weather driving.

Optimized Version and Features

The performance gains for the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 Arctic Circle versions's performance updates mirror those for the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle. Both models are based on their loniest range, dual-motor top-of-the-range models with the Performance Pack.

Both models use Öhlins adjustable dampers to cope with extreme winter conditions. The Polestar 3 is fitted with a 1.6-inch suspension lift, and the Polestar 4 receives a boost of another 0.8 inches of ground clearance, allowing the properties to roam off-road.

Tires/Snow and Grip Enhancements/Winter-Ready

Polestar Arctic Circle EVs

Both models of the Polestar Arctic Circle EVs wear 295/40R-20 Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus tires, which are tailored for snow and ice. These come with 300 4-mm metal studs for better adherence. For context, Polestar's heavily modified Arctic Circle version of the 2 was shod with 245/45R-19 Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus shoes with 250 studs, selected because it did well on the ice. The hydraulic handbrake on these models is a nod to Polestar’s rally influences, with the ability to drift with control.
